Troubleshooting eSIM Activation
In many cases, your eSIM will only activate once you’ve arrived in your travel destination. If you’ve installed your eSIM but haven’t started your trip yet, it’s completely normal for it to show as inactive, or no service.
It’s important to understand that installation and activation are two separate steps. Installing an eSIM simply adds it to your device. Activation usually happens once your device connects to a local carrier network abroad, and requires certain settings (like data roaming) to be enabled.
Why Activation Might Be Delayed
- Update Lag: Sometimes it takes a few minutes for your Jittr app to display the updated activation status, especially right after arrival.
- Network Connection: Your eSIM won’t activate until your phone recognizes and connects to a supported local network with data roaming turned on.
- Multiple eSIMs: If you have more than one eSIM installed (such as a trial and a purchased plan), make sure the correct one is selected as your active mobile data line.
Troubleshooting Steps
Quick Checks
- Make sure data roaming is turned on.
- Confirm your eSIM is set as the default data line in your device settings.
Advanced Fixes
- Toggle airplane mode on and off, or restart your phone.
- Try manually selecting a carrier by turning off automatic network selection and choosing a supported provider.
Important Reminders
- Status updates can sometimes take a few minutes, we appreciate your patience while your eSIM activates.
